Job Description

Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) provides the highest quality services for children and adults who are challenged with developmental, learning and emotional disabilities — empowering them to reach their greatest potential. Each year, ECF serves more than 3,700 clients and their families at 15 sites throughout Los Angeles County. Established in 1946, ECF is the only organization of its kind in California to provide a lifespan of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, provide care and supervision to the residents in the Intermediate Care Facility/Developmental Disabled Nursing (ICF/DDN) group home. Implement written plans as part of each residents’ Individual Service Plan (ISP) to provide nursing services consistent with the diagnostic, therapeutic and medication regimens as outlined by the Nurse Manager. Assist with clients’ health services and assessments as needed and directed by the Nurse Manger. Notify the Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional QIDP and Nurse Manager of marked or sudden change in signs, symptoms, client behavior, etc., and of any medications errors; document weekly contacts and observations in residents’ charts; Act as shift leader and supervise the residential assistants during the shift, ensuring all duties are performed as stated in the shift log; observe and document the residential assistants’ proficiency in handling, administering and recording medications, and report to the Nurse Manager. Participate as a member of the IDT as needed for the following: pre-admissions, evaluations, placement, periodic re-evaluations of the type, extent and quality of nursing services and discharge planning as directed by the Nurse Manager. Participate in the Attendant Training Plan and assist with the medication training program for the residential assistants. The medication training program will cover all areas outlined in Title 22.

Qualifications:

Four years working as a registered, Licensed Vocational Nurse for a Long Term Care Facility. Registered in California as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Good oral and written communication skills; ability to work on multiple assignments with competing deadlines; ability to perform any aspect of nursing services needed by the residents as part of the services offered in an ICF/ DDN setting; and ability to follow strict guidelines regarding sterilization of medical instruments.

Work Schedule
8 hours/Saturday or Sunday.
